Tax Deduction Account Number (TAN)

A Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number (TAN) is a unique 10-digit alphanumeric code assigned to individuals and entities responsible for deducting or collecting tax at source (TDS/TCS). As per Section 203A of the Income-tax Act, 1961, quoting TAN is mandatory on all TDS returns and related documents filed with the Income Tax Department.
